RIYADH, 7 December — Sweet-shooting Zeny Siapco and the Stinger bowling team rolled a big round to emerge as the bowler of the week and the team of the week holders on the 23rd week of the STBC Sunday Family Bowling League at the Riyadh Inter-Continental Hotel Bowling Center.
Ziapco, capitalizing on her 24 handicaps made her dream comes true to crown herself as the week’s best bowler by bagging the coveted bowler of the week award. Ziapco playing with the PNB Bankeros squad rolled 169 in the first game followed by 202 in the second game. Ziapco aiming for the award increased her output by exploding a game high of 234 in third game and downed 170 in the penultimate game. “I am just lucky and the breaks is with me”, the jubilant Ziapco said. Ziapco’s brilliant performance lifted the PNB Bankeros Atbp team captained by Jun Pineda to humiliate the Barkada quintet by collecting 28 big points against 11 points compiled by the Barkada. Sharing limelight with Ziapco was team-mate Jun Envangelista who fired a four game series of 834. One-time 300 perfect score holder, Elmer Penoso and Romy Cruz extended support by contributing a separate four game series of 786 and 772. PNB country manager, Usman Navarro added 200 in one game.
The triumvirate of Oscar Teves, Toom Sriprom and Rudy Pranga topscored in the Barkada by pumping-in a series of 768, 733 and 732 in four outings. Lito Regalado toppled a four game series of 617 while ace Aloy Mier and Danny Agcaoili scored a series of 341 and 319 in two games. The Barkada garnered overall total team output of 3676.
The powerhouse and the undisputed league leader, the Stinger bowling team tightened their hold on top by recording a 29-9 victory over the Cuadro to snatch the team of the week title. Cornering the limelight in the Stinger team was Wilson Ringer who shot a four game series of 797. The versatile Rina Labo produced 794 series in four games to follow Ringor. Ellen Bernabe and Boy Fogata sizzled to score a series of 779 and 760 in four outings and Art Palustre sealed a series of 599 in three games.
For the Cuadro team, Atoy “kabo” Malubay’s fiery performance topscored by posting a four game series of 829. Cezar Marquez came-in next to Atoy with a series of 771. Dante Cambare and Tess Jose pocketed a series of 663 and 647 in four matches.
The Philippine Embassy team keglers demolished the RB Laneking (28 – 2) and leading scorers in the Philippine Embassy was Neil Gafur with 804 series. Arlene Arenas and Willie de Mesa impressed by posting a series of 789 and 768. Joel Alegre and Gin Disomimba added a series of 598 and 525. The ever-fading Rudy Dawis with a series of 732 was on top in the RB Laneking team. Danny Paredes produced a series of 676 while Noli Agliam and Leo Estacio snatched a series of 563 and 495. Ted Anis scored 316 series in two games.

The STBC Sunday Family Bowling League is under the chairmanship of Abe Asuncion and sponsored by the Philippine National Bank (PNB) through its country manager, Usman Navarro and the Philippine Airlines through its country manager, Jun Ordillano.
Meanwhile, the 2nd OFW Summer Worldwide Balikbayan Tournament hosted and organized by the Overseas Filipino Workers Bowlers of Riyadh (OFWBR) in cooperation with the De Guzman Group of Companies (Sky Freight Forwarders) will be held on April 25, 2002. The venue of the games is the SM City Bowling Center, SM Annex Building, SM West, North Edsa, West Avenue, Quezon City, Philippines. Entry fee is PHP2,000 and registration time will start at 7:30 a.m. till 9:30 a.m. The possible major sponsors of the event are the San Miguel Corporation and the Goldilocks.
