RIYADH, 28 December — The Calabarzon II bowling team captained by Jimmy Ocampo through the heroics of Ellen Bernabe and Pido Villarosa humbled the powerhouse Pangasinan Strikers (22-0) on the 9th week of the Wednesday "Payanigan" Regulated Bowling League at the Riyadh Inter-Continental Hotel Bowling Center. The major sponsor of the league is the Giordano Fashions through M.A.K. Jeelani, Saudi Arabian Operations Manager, the Giordano Fashions through Masood and Muhammad Ali, Giordano Riyadh.
Bernabe, considered as one of the best female bowler in the region today and the fast-rising Pido Villarosa unleashed separate devastating forms to share awards by clinching the Giordano bowler of the week title.
For their feat, Bernabe and Villarosa will receive a Giordano t-shirts. Bernabe and Villarosa posted an identical series of 811 in four games.
Bernabe, with 20 handicaps per game had on lines of 163, 161, 201 and 206 while Villarosa rolled 176, 207, 194 and 190. Bernabe and Villarosa got a lot of help from team-mates Jimmy Ocampo, Rey Dela and Benjie Domado in beating the undermanned Pangasinan Strikers. Ocampo and Dela drilled an identical four game series of 750.
Domado contributed a two game series of 362. The Calabarzon team playing with a blind player in the remaining two games successfully blanked the struggling Pangasinan through the dynamic combination of Bernabe and Villarosa together with Dela.
Bernabe tallied downed 201 and 206, Pido scored 194 and 190 while Dela sealed 235 and 163. Calabarzon’s triumphant victory over the Pangasinan Strikers clinched their second team of the week title.
In another fashion, the Wizard’s 23 and the Pin Heads emerged winners over their respective opponents, the Ariba-Arabia and the Coolebraz. Wizard’s squad got 22 points while the Pin Heads recorded 20 points. Simon Montero, Mar Samson and Johnny de Asis led in the Wizard’s 23 by knocking-down a separate four game series of 757, 750 and 700. Ernie Gonzales and Remy Pantaleon chipped in a three game series of 574 and 533. Roel Toledo added 367 pints in two games.
For the Pin Heads, Joey Geronimo, Rene Clemente sparkled a four game series of 791 and 776 to topscore. Noel Marquez and Ric Urrutia submitted a series of 757 and 719 while Santi Herrera downed a series of 686.
On lanes 11 and 12, the Split Converters overplayed the Calabarzon I to post a 17- 0 victory.
Marvin Arocena took the limelight in the Split Converts by carding a four-game series of 751. Rolly Manalang was next the player to submit a convincing four game series of 682. Joe Concepcion and Dante "cheeney" Prado drilled-in a separate three game series of 525 and 522. Can Encilla and Jomarie de Luna rolled a series of 497 and 472 in three sets.
The SkyFreight Forwarders team captained by Larry Mondoy recorded a 16-0 victory against the Sunrise. Oca Bernabe led in the SkyFreight by exploding a four game series of 739. Reden "love boy" Tulabut dazzled to post a series of 638 in four outings. Lito Junio toppled 552 series in three games and Jimmy Medina, Atoy Malubay, Mondoy and Jun Malana added a separate two-game series of 359, 346, 340 and 338.
The Scorpions team of Boy Bartolome upset the league leader, the E-Banking (14-4). The dynamic duo of Jolly dela Torre and Joel Alegre stopped the do-or-die, the struggling E-Banking keglers.
Dela Torre and Alegre burned the lanes to post a separate four game series of 704 and 702. Danny Paredes and Bartolome together Jun Martin supported Dela Torre and Alegre by contributing a series of 696, 676 and 536 in four matches.
The other co-sponsors of the Wednesday "Payanigan" bowling league are the SkyFreight Forwarders, Bison Energy Drink and the Caesar Natural Juice
Meanwhile, the Wednesday League will resume on Jan. 16, while the Thursday Inter-Province league will commence on Jan. 1 7.
