ALKHOBAR, 28 December — In the EPCA Ramadan Cup final sponsored by Al-Khamisain Saudi Pan Gulf beat Pak Arab by 6 wickets. Pak Arab batted first and scored 157 runs for the loss of four wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Mansoor scored a fine half century. Mobashir also batted well and scored a useful 27 runs and Akhter contributed well with 22 runs. Captain Nasir Mahmood bowled well and took 2 wickets for 35 runs.
In reply, Saudi Pan Gulf reached the target in the 18th over. Thanks to a wonderful opening stand between Hamid Jameel and Talal Iqbal. They put on 112 runs for the first wicket at the end of 12th over. Hamid departed first after scoring a brilliant 64 runs which included four hits to the fence and three magnificent sixers.
Talal followed him to the pavilion after displaying yet another great batting talent and scoring a fine half century in which he hit five classical boundaries. Amjad Butt scored unbeaten 26 runs and took his team to a grand victory. Arshad Sadiq bowled well and took 2 wickets for 24 runs.
In their semifinal, Saudi Pan Gulf defeated AGE by 7 wickets. AGE batted first and scored 160 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Rizwan batted very well and scored superb 64 runs and Aabdul Waheed scored fine 48 runs. Talal bowled very well and took 4 wickets for 18 runs.
Saudi Pan Gulf reached the target in the 18th over. This time Talal showed his class with the bat and scored a brilliant 44 runs with the help of 4 boundaries. Amjad Butt scored unbeaten 42, Syed Mahmood contributed valuable 37 runs and Hamid chipped in with 21 runs. Dawood bowled well and took 3 wickets for 37 runs.
In another semifinal, Pak Arab beat YATA by 27 runs. Batting first, Pak Arab piled up 216 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Thanks to Mobashir and Mansoor both of them batted with great authority and played glorious strokes in every corner of the field. Mobashir particularly was in tremendous form. He scored 83 runs in no time which was studded with five towering sixes and 7 excellent boundaries.
Mansoor also batted well and scored magnificent half century which included 4 mighty sixes and 4 superb boundaries. Kashif scored 23 runs and Akhter contributed 22 runs. Mazhar bowled well and took 3 wickets for 26 runs and Nadeem took 2 wickets for 42 runs.
In reply, YATA could only score 189 runs at the end of their allotted 20 overs and in the process they lost 9 wickets. Nadeem Nawaz batted very well and scored 60 runs with the help of 3 mighty sixes and 3 beautiful boundaries and Shahzad contributed 34 runs. Qayyum and Arshad bowled well and took 2 wickets each.
