JEDDAH, 4 January — Jeddah Cricket League tournament sponsored by Kanoo Group, in the second division witnessed eight matches, in the fifth week. Sadafco handed an eight-wicket drubbing to Zuhair Fayez. Nestle Milo comfortably won against Al Rabie Foods by 28 runs. Saudia City sailed past KAIA for a 35 runs victory. Saudia Majestique pip Salaheen by 18 runs. Afkar PROMO 7 and IISJ lost respectively to Sado Zai and Hempel Paints.

At the Otis ground, Sadafco bundled out Zuhair Fayez for a meager score of 84. Zuhair Fayez electing to bat in an 18 overs match found that none of their batsmen could stay at the wicket to build a good total. Sadafco bowlers were always on the top and with Hussain 2 for 15 and Zubair 3 for 29 being the main wicket-takers. Sadafco made the required runs 86 for 2 in just 8.2 overs. Opening pair Zahid (24) and Naeem (28) laid the foundation and Khaleel (18 n.o.) saw his team Sadafco gain an impressive triumph.

At the Nestle Milo ground, hosts Nestle Milo got the upper hand against Al Rabie Foods. After winning the toss Milo decide to take first strike. Nestle Milo hit 146 runs for the loss of 6 wickets during their 18 overs match. Omer (21) Saeed (25), A. Rauf (23), Haridas (23) and Rahmat (24) all contributed toward the total, while Hamdi 3 for 28 bowled well. In reply, Al Rabie Foods lost their seasoned batsman Rohan for a duck, while one down bat Afrooz (52 n.o.) stood his ground at one end, he found his team mates making a beeline from the other end. Khalid was in tremendous form he claimed 4 wickets for 18 runs. Al Rabie Foods were restricted to 118 for 8, handing a significant 28 runs win to Milo.

At KAIA ground, Saudia City restricted host KAIA to 125 for 8 to lock up a 35 runs win. Calling correct at the spin of the coin as Saudia City decided to bat and made 160 for 8 in the allotted 18 overs. Veteran batsman Naseem was in his usual form scoring 40 runs. He was well supported by Nadeem (25) and Junaid (33). Abdul Muqeet took 2 wickets for 10 runs. In reply, KAIA could not maintain the run rate. Naser (23), Akbar (20) and Abdul Muqeet (28 n.o.) were the main run getters. The bowling honors were shared between Khalid Khan 3 for 29, Naseem 2 for 24 and Azhar 2 for 28 to provide Saudia City a thumping victory.

At the Askan 2 ground, Saudia Majestique defeated Salaheen Club by 18 runs. Batting first, Saudia Majestique scored 143 for 8 in the allotted 18 overs. With Yousef Bobat hitting a splendid 54 runs. Naeem took 3 wickets for 27. In reply, Salaheen were restricted to 125 for 7, Salim making 23 runs. Munhaf took 3 wickets for 21.

At the Attar ground, Sado Zai won against Afkar Promo 7, in a tightly contested match. Batting first, Afkar made a respectable total of 167 for 4 in 18 overs. Opener Ali (64) and one-down batsman Pervez (49) scored at brisk pace. Romesh hit a rapid fire 26 in 14 balls. Atiq took 2 wickets for 34. Set to score over 9 runs per over Sado Zai reached their target in the last over with just five balls to spare. Opener Ejaz was in full cry and hammered an unbeaten 95. Javed (22) and Khawar (30) supported him well for their team to reach 170 for 4. Nabil took 2 wickets for 30. Sado Zai won by 6 wickets.

At the Hempel Paints ground, hosts Hempel restricted the young lads of International Indian School Jeddah to win by a narrow margin. Batting first, Hempel Paints made 131 for 8 in the allotted 18 overs.

Arif Hashmy (18), Sohail (32) and Javeed Quraishi (22) were the main run getters. Abdullah Joshi 3 for 18 and Muddassir 2 for 24 were successful with the ball. In reply, IISJ were restricted to 120 for 9. Opener Sadiq made 44 runs. Ihtesham 3 for 17, Javeed Quraishi 3 for 18 and Arif Hashmy 2 for 17 bowled well to achieve an eleven run win for Hempel Paints.
