RIYADH, 4 January — In the offing is the newest game in town, Class — or the Chapters Leagues Against Sedentariness through Sports, one of the programs launched by Mother during its second anniversary celebration held recently.
Thus, female sport aficionados will now have a league of their own. Comprising a variety of recreational tournaments in sport events and the like, such as bowling, volleyball, table tennis, scrabble, darts, chess and the other popular past time for physical and mental exercises, Class is exclusively for all the females and participation is open to schools, hospital, community organizations, and other groups.
With the objective of providing a wholesome diversion for unwinding as well as for physical fitness, Class will enable the members to compete against their peers and counterparts in their respective groups, such as inter-schools, inter-companies and the like.
In a statement, Mother founder and chairperson Perla Vega, said Class is envisioned to cater to practically all the enthusiasts in their chosen activity, while bringing forth a year-round fanfare.
To ensure a well planned organization of the activities, due consideration will be given to the school calendar, suitability of weather, e.g. during the extremely hot or cold season, indoor activities will be offered and outdoor sports will take place during the appropriate months.
For a start, an inter-hospital bowling tournament will be held at the Inter-Continental Bowling Center on Jan. 25 to Feb. 1. With requests for support being negotiated with Zajoul Prepaid Calling, Al Safi-Danone, Microsoft, and other sponsors, fourty-eight entries are lined up to participate.
