JEDDAH, 18 January — Pakistan International School (Urdu Section) scored facile wins in both under-17 and under-14 groups against Bangladesh International School and Al-Momin International School in the inaugural matches of Power Horse/Arab News Inter-School Tournament at RCA grounds.
In under-14 match between PIS (Urdu Section) and Al-Momin, PIS romped home by 8 wickets in just 7.1 overs. For PIS, Waleed A. Rana and Irshad Habib remained unbeaten 22 and 13 respectively. Abdus Salaam took 2 wickets conceding 30 runs for Al-Momin. Earlier Al-Momin International School batting first scored 41 all out.
Only Faisal offered some resistance to PIS bowlers and scored 12 runs. For PIS Tufail Akhter took 5 wickets giving away 12 runs. Farrukh took 2 for 10 and Waqar took 2 for 7.
In under-17 match between PIS and Bangladesh International School at RCA-2 grounds, batting first the formidable PIS scored a mammoth 216 for 3 in their stipulated 20 overs. The highlight of PIS innings was fine unbeaten 76 with 6 fours and 1 six by Nasir Khan and useful contributions from Adnan 33 and Farrukh 35. Saudi International under-17 player and skipper of PIS Jibreel Rana scored 15 while Sufiyan Saeed remained not out 17.
For BIS, Alvi bowled well and took one wicket giving away 27 runs while Fahad took one for 40. Set to score at the rate of 11 runs per over the BIS openers failed to give a good start to the team and were back in the pavilion before the team total reach double figures. Safawat and Omar played well scoring 28 and 20 runs while Iftequar contributed 15 and Osama 13. Nasir Khan showed good performance with the ball also and captured 3 wickets conceding 27 runs. Farrukh took 2 for 23 while Nouman, Hayat, Jibreel and Mujahid took one wicket each giving away 18, 15, 14, 12 runs respect.
