JEDDAH, 25 January — In a show of superior strength, style and determination Ahmed El Mehelmy Powered his way into the finals of the on going 1st KIA Open Tennis tournament being played at the Trio Ranch Country Club.
El Mehelmy took on Saudi national Shukri Omar in a one-sided encounter to ensure his place against Jordanian Hani Al Ali, who previously knocked out Salah Bushnaq. El Mehelmy has won just about every local tournament in Jeddah and is looking to add yet another title to his name. His opponent Hani Al Ali is a relative newcomer to the many tournaments being held within the city. Both players have represented their respective countries in many international events and for the first time meet each other in such a final. El Mehelmy took no time to dispose of Shukri in two straight set 6-0, 6-0 while Al Ali was quite fortunate to win by default as his opponent Salah Bushnaq took the first set 6-4 however due to a reoccurring back injury Salah had to retire in the second set paving the way for Al Ali entry to the finals. This exciting encounter will take part this coming Friday at the Trio Ranch Country Club hard court starting at 7:00 p.m.
