RIYADH, 25 January — Reden Tulabut, who works at the Norconsult Telematics as Design Engineer vested fifty-eight aspiring contenders in a dazzling form to capture the OMNIA/OFWBR Pre-Opening Monday league One-Day bowling tournament title at the Riyadh Inter-Continental Hotel Bowling Center.
Tulabut rolled a game-high of 237 scratch in the first game and put himself to occupy the second position behind the leader, Gil Hembra of Saudi Hollandi Bank.
The action continued in the second games and due to pressure of the games, Tulabut lost his target to roll a low-score of 144 and saw himself dropped to number 14 position wherein Jimmy Medina bounced back to grab the top position from Hembra who fell to seven position. Medina’s high game of 248 in the second match position himself as one of the top contender for the plum along with Pat Nave who snatched the second position with a series of 436.
Hembra and Ellen Bernabe occupied the seventh and eight positions after the second games. Tulabut, despite of the bad breaks he suffered in the second match did not lose hope of coming back to enter the top ten shot another high game of 233 to overtake the lead from his compatriot Medina after the third games. Medina rolled 177 and was pushed down to third position behind Rolly "picture-taking" Amis who entered the magic five. Amis got a two game series of 626 on lines of 224 and 211. Ace Aloy Mier sizzled too to post a series of 599 to occupy the fourth position while taking the fifth position was the prolific Vher Cayago with 598.
It’s any bodies ball game en route to the remaining last two games wherein Tulabut still occupied the number one position with a challenge coming from arch-rivals Amis (797), titlist Neil Domingo (793), Mier (783), Medina (782) and Cayago (777). At the penultimate game, Tulabut maintained his average score to post a five game series of 1000. Amis, who have a chance of beating Tulabut got the bad breaks when he rolled 159 for a total five game series of 956 to settle for eight place. Mier who have a big chance of winning title lost to Tulabut by merely 11 points when miserably missed to spare a single pin in the crucial game. Mier placed second while Cayago and Pat Nave settled third and fourth positions, respectively.
