JEDDAH, 1 February — Basketball games resume its thrilling skirmishes with the staging of the much-awaited United Naghi Open Basketball Classic. To be held at the Hafil courts (formerly Sasco) in Jeddah, the event is scheduled to start from Feb. 8 Friday at 5:00 p.m.
Mindanao Federation Basketball Association (MFBA) president Mitchell Hadji Omar disclosed the notion after seeking an exclusive sponsorship approval from the United Yousef Naghi Electronics Division, the sole distributors of LG, Philips, Meireles, Ariston and Nardi electronic brands. Vice president Ahmed Sfarjilani, together with general manager Jamal Hamouda and finance & administration manager Mohammed El Ghalayini forged the agreement with Mitchell, in coordination with executive manager Mir Saheeruddin.
Organized and managed by the Malumbay International, the tournament has the full backing of the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, under the administration of consul general Kadatuan Usop. Coordinated efforts from the United Bangsaranao Council, spearheaded by chairman Usman Islao, also helped make the event possible.
During the short deal out rites, Mitchell also confirmed the games venue with top Hafil Transport management, the Kingdom’s fastest growing transportation company which the United Yousef Naghi also owns. Sfarjilani further emphasized that spectators will be allured a wide range of electronic appliances on display with special prices during the whole course of the tournament. This scheme is the first of its kind to capitalize our efforts of solely sponsoring such an event while directly promoting our product brands to the consumers, he added.
