RIYADH, 15 February — The Laguna Strikers team captained by Rolly Manalang displayed terrific performances that put them right back as one of the top contenders in the SkyFreight Forwarders/OFWBR “Pabongahan” Inter-Province Bowling League, now entered 12th week of action.

Unheralded Jojo Miraflor, playing with the Luzvimin Pin Busters team managed by Hanibal Geronimo exuded confidence and optimism on his brilliant performance in last week’s of action. Miraflor’s long wait for the coveted award turned into reality when he emerged as the week’s best bowler by clinching the Bowler of the Week award. Miraflor posted a four game series of 859 and had on lines of 160, 178, 205 and 204.

It was a one-sided affair as the Laguna Strikers team keglers dominated most of the proceedings of the games against the league leader and the defending champions, the Pangasinan Strikers quintet. Romy Matic, Rolly Manalang and Ramon Nilo turned in pivotal displays for their side to thwart any serious efforts by the Pangasinan Strikers.

The Laguna Strikers, despite of losing the first game to the Pangasinaan (951-938) found their touch in the second set to really stretch the Laguna Strikers. Impressive performances from Romy Matic (776), Rolly Manalang (771) and Ramon Nilo (764) and Jomari de Luna (528), in a super display of teamwork blanked their rivals, the Pangasinan in the remaining three games. Extending support to the Laguna keglers came through the fine games of Marvin Arocena (439) and Dante “biktima” Prado (358). At the end of the games, the Laguna Strikes went home with 22 points while the Pangasinan only settled for 10 points.

Leading scorers in the Pangasinan Phol Grepo (774), JR Bagon (733), and Jojo Demetrio (733). The reliable Wilson Bacala carded a series of 546 in three sets. Pat Raz scored 347 points in two games and Pep Maghinay garnered a series of 316 in two games.

In another match, the Bicol Express of Rizal Dellosa, extended their winning streak by beating the ABB Mixed Stars (20-8). The Bicol Express who proved too hot for ABB Mixed Stars as they made the most of their experience.

Their playmaker, Chris Bautista, the veteran Henry Sonias and Toffe San Jose came up trumps in the remaining set when it needed most by supplying the Bicol Express superb points.

The Bico Express wasted no chance to deny the ABB Mixed Stars a whiff of a win in the remaining games. Promising Bautista led in the Bicol Express and followed by Sonias who fired a series of 763 and 755 in four matches. San Jose, on the other hand, contributed a series of 752. Rollie Cleofe sparkled 580 series in three outings and Dellosa pocketed a series of 550. Ferdie Ramos chipped-in 337 series in two games.

Graceful Mon Teodoro excelled in the ABB Mixed Stars team by pumping-in a four-game series of 726. Keng Raymundo and Mel Solas sizzled to post an identical four-game series of 717. Ramon Perez seared the lanes to score a series of 553 in four outings while Louie Abundo added a series of 553 in three games.

The Luzvimin Pin Busters and the Vision 2 recorded a separate impressive wins over the Metro Five Stars and Opnel.

For the Luzvimin, topscoring was the bowler of the week holder, Jojo Miraflor with 859. Malco Muyco delighted fans by scoring a series of 767 in four games. Fred Zacarias snatched a series of 643 and Ed Maduro rolled 597.

At the forefront in the Vision 2 team keglers were Alex Bandoy (796), Emil Rances (772), and Edu Quizon (738). Arman Caraig poured-in a series of 531 and Remy Pantaleon scored 493 series.

Jun Ego and the veteran Freddie Aquino together with the former titlist Neil Domingo were on top in the Metro Five Stars team. Ego and Aquino rolled a series of 766 and 745 while Domingo submitted 742. Khaled Seftawi registered a four game series of 515.

Submitting the best output in the Opnel team were team captain, Larry Mondoy (734), Reden Tulabut (724), Vher Cayago (711), Jun Malana (702) and Rolly “roxan” Amis (695.

The Pampanga Dragons sandbagged the default team, the Calabarzon (16-0) and topscoring in the Pampanga was Rey Lansang with 785, followed by Rene Dimapilis (732), Saud Egil (688), Roger Bautista (653), Boy Catu (367) and Danny Albano (352).
