RIYADH, 15 February — Saudia Milk will clash with Friends in “A” division RCA 40 overs Al-Bank-Al-Saudi Al-Fransi (BSF) tournament finals while in “B” division finals SAMBA take on Young Friends at RCA grounds.

In the first semifinal, Saudia Milk beat Mehran C.C. by 43 runs at RCA-2 grounds.

Batting first, Saudia Milk amassed a respectable score of 290 for 9 in allotted 40 overs. Khalid Mahmood played a brilliant innings of 97 including two fours and five sixes and was adjudged “man-of-the-match”.

In reply, Mehran were all out for 247.

Elsewhere, in other semifinal, Friends outclassed Carrier at RCA-3 grounds. Winning the toss and electing to bat, Friends with the help of fine 59 with two fours from Afzal and sparkling innings of 88 with five fours and one six by Owais, scored 289 for 8 in their stipulated 40 overs. In reply, despite Kashif M. Khan’s 62 with six fours Carrier were bowled out for 172. Later, Owais was adjudged “man-of-the-match” for his sparkling innings.

In “B” division semifinal, Young Friends in a nail-biting finish beat Al-Eid by one wicket at RCA-4 ground while SAMBA easily won their match against PIA Young at RCA-1 ground. Batting first, Al-Eid were 239 all out. Chasing the target, Young Friends started badly but were snatched the victory by last wicket pair of Muhammad Amjad and Iftequar Qureshi. Needing eight runs to win in the last over they managed to score it on the last ball of the last over. Zahid Mir played well for Young Friends and scored 65 with five fours. He was later adjudged “man-of-the-match”.

In the other semifinal at RCA-1 ground, SAMBA batting first made 260 all out with Javed Jameel scoring a fine 57 with seven fours, Imran Javed contributing solid 53 with five fours and skipper Raza Khan chipping in with sparkling 51 with five fours and one six.

In reply, despite Abdul Basit’s 59 with three fours and Osman Lodhi’s 52 with five fours and one six PIA Young were folded up for 229. Javed Jameel of SAMBA was adjudged “man-of-the-match” for his all-round performance.

Earlier in quarterfinal matches of “A” division, Carrier outclassed Saudi Ericsson, Mehran got the better of Fighters, Friends beat Pak-Shaheen and Saudia Milk got a walk over from Indo-Pak.

At RCA-3 ground, Carrier helped by unbeaten centuries by their openers Syed Hasnain and Kashif M. Khan outclassed Saudi Ericsson by 10 wickets while at RCA-4 ground, Owais helped Friends clinched a thumping 9 wickets victory over Pak-Shaheen.

In other quarterfinals, Mehran beat Fighters in a hard-fought match by 6 wickets at RCA-1 ground while Indo-Pak failed to turn up against Saudia Milk at RCA-2 ground.

In “B” division quarterfinal matches, Al-Eid beat Meezan Spices, Young Friends overwhelm A.S. Young, SAMBA knocked out United Stars while PIA Young got the better of Young Stars.

At RCA-7 ground, Meezan Spices batting first scored none to impressive 210 all out. In reply, Al-Eid were made to toil hard for their victory by Meezan Spices bowlers. For Al-Eid XI, Nazim made 54 with three fours and two sixes while Khawar Hussain remained not out on 51 with five fours. Javed Jameel’s fine innings of 122 with fourteen fours and sparkling 90 with nine fours and two sixes by Jamil Khan guided SAMBA to a imposing score of 360 against United Stars.

In reply, United Stars were bowled out for 249.

At RCA-8 ground, Adnan Majeed guided PIA Young to victory against Young Stars with a swashbuckling 128 with eleven fours. Imran Kifayat contributed with 76 including four fours to PIA Young’s score of 321 for 5. Chasing the target, Young Stars were all out for 226.

In another match at RCA-9 ground, Young Friends helped by Amer Ashfaq’s 84 with ten fours and one six outfought youthful A.S. Young by 8 wickets. Young Friends made 176 for 2 in 21 overs.

Earlier batting first, A.S. Young were all out for 173.
