RIYADH, 22 March — Jay Noble, a speedy point guard contributed 24 points, six assists, 1 steal, 1 rebound, 1 block shot that lifted the Prince Sultan Cardiac Center/Luzviminda Sports Wear team to a 3-0 win-loss record past Al Habib Medical Center. Danny Bugayong, Jeff Baybay, Rommel Galivo fine offense during 1st quarter kept a hairline lead at 24-23 in their favor. However, the PSCC/Luzviminda captured the lead by a seesaw battle past Al Habib Center due to the combined efforts of Jun Reyes, Jun Soriano, and Cano outrebounding Al Habib.
Coach Lafayette Caliolio employed fast break thereby fielded Jill Jusay breaking the offense of PSCC/Luzviminda. Rommel Galivo, and Selorio. Both scoring two triple jumper. At the third quarter, Danny Bugayong triple jumper placed AL Habib leading at 79-70. During the final quarter, coach Roniel Navarro dispatched Soriano, Reyes, Astrologo, Cano, and Julius Fabuna, outscoring Al Habib with 98-93 a 5 points lead by the PSCC/Luzviminda at buzzer end.
Meanwhile, veteran cool cager Dave Gana set the record straight and highlighted remarkable performance in the match between his team Sultan SuperSonics against RKH/Aljon Sportswear Team in the continuing games of the Military Hospital Basketball Association/NaRS All Filipino Cup 2002 currently taking place at Riyadh Sheraton Hotel and Towers Basketball Court every Friday morning supported by Phil-Thai Supermarket and Pacific Cargo.
Dave Gana registered 25 high-flying points, 7 rebounds, 2 assist, 1 steal, 1 block leading the way for the Sultan Sonics to a 2-1 win-loss record. Sultan head coach, Edwin Sarmiento deeper bench took the upper hand from the start of the first quarter by 16 points margin increasing the lead to the successive quarters by as much as 31 points in the third and 35 points margin at the final buzzer. Rod Ayson, J. Perez, R. Manigbas, Semilla and Dennis Gana contributed a double digit scores resulting to the RKH/Aljon team defeat from Sultan Sonics.
Riyadh Kharj Hospital/Aljon head coach, Julius Sespene, shuffled his team all the way to catch up with Sultan but to no avail. This is the RKH/Aljon team third-straight loss. Best Player of the game goes to Dave Gana.
A cardiac game between Al Bustan Mixers of Ramir Mariano, the front running cage team in the MHBA-NaRS Winter Cup 2002 astonished from the outstanding performance showed the undermanned Metro Bank Cagers from first till third quarter whereby they were trailing about 4 points.
Metro Bank Cagers first five led by Captain Solis, Morales, Policarpio, Las Marias, and Villatema displayed their individual and team performances, played perfect combination leading them most of the way. The last minutes of the fourth quarter, coach Alex Dalisay of Al Bustan Mixers fielded Fajardo, Aznar, Farnal, Carreon and Pineda matching the Metro Bank Cagers defense and offense.
While Al Bustan Mixers enjoying a 3-point lead with 2 minutes to go in the final quarter, the bankers call a time-out and re-organized his team, Solis of Metro Bank, from 20 foot line buried a triple jumper beating the clock resulting for a two minutes overtime extension. Finally, it was Farnal and Fajardo of the Mixers scored the final baskets pulling away from almost upset by Metro Bank. Best Player of the Game goes to Fajardo of Al Bustan Mixers.
