JEDDAH, 22 March — MBC quartet of Liny Suriaga, Dante Calapatia, Angel Decena and Benjie Cils flashed their sterling performances and snatched the distinction of being the best team of the 31st week. MBC scored 85 points in the long-running Tuesday Night League organized by the Brotherhood Bowling Group (BBG) here at the Jeddah Bowling Center.

Up-coming bowler Liny Suriaga who scored a 3-game series of 734 including handicap led MBC with his unprecedented performances. During the initial 10-frame presentation, he dazzled with a score of 226. With the assists of Decena (213), Calapatia (200), and Cils, MBC delivered a team output of 879 for 21 points.

On the final set, the quartet amazed the crowd when they presented the art of a good team play en route to their quest for the week’s highest honors. Suriaga (234), Calapatia (204), Decena (214) and Cils (212), strode to the front line and received 22 points. The 3-game series of the quartet (2673) was rewarded with 22 maximum bonus points that brought their total to 85.

The opposing Abudawood Trading, stocked with incredible bowlers in their team, was stunned by the outstanding performances of MBC. Although the triumvirate of Felix Julaton, Hero Garcia and Lindo Villanueva was superb in the second game, Emil Payongayong failed to bear the pressures and merely scored 153 including handicap. On the final set, it was Julaton that met walls of split (137) and pulled down the team to the loosing end.

Saudi Arabian Yasser Akbar, the youngest bowler playing in the league and one of the rising kegler of Otra Cosa, captured the hearts of all bowling enthusiasts when he edged out Suriaga by merely two pins and romped away with the top award in the individual category at 736. His final tally was 736 in the lines of 199, 235 and 218, which were fortified by his 28-pin handicap per game.

With the incredible performances of Yasser Akbar and the assists of Jun Pilipina, Val Magsino and Ben Maramot, Otra Cosa posted 82 points against the 49.5 tally of Top Gun.

The quartet of Ramis Ayoub, Tariq Al Twairib, Rey Beltran and Talal Al Twairib of Al Ahadal Establishment routed in four straight sets to the Guess? squad of Jess Escondo, Gil Ordonez, Edwin Carrao and Danny de Guzman. After the debris of fallen pins was cleared, Ahadal scored 77 points while the Guess? team posted 58.

Internet@Kape captured the checkered flag from Al Alamiah Insektos after they won a decisive 3-set battle against PICPA-PRO. Internet scored 65.5 points through the high games of Roger Daquioag, Goying Salazar, Ador Torres and Alex Guinto. PICPA earned a 47-point credit when the triumvirate of Jimmy Rosillo, Danny Cofreros and Paul Antiporda rolled off their best shots and brought their series to 2231 for additional 10 bonus points.

Erstwhile front-runner Al Alamiah Insektos merely earned 49 points after a very poor showing on the second game against the Falcons that gave way for the Internet to climb on the top of the ladder.

Roger Dacquioag of Internet@Kape, Cris Villavelez of SkyFreight Forwarders and Jun Pilipina of Otra Cosa submitted additional entries to the BBG Elite Club. It’s the second of Pilipina (277) and Dacquioag (253) and the third of Villavelez (258).

Larry Santos of Saudi Diyar Consultant-Night Shift was the lone winner of a special prize for converting the 6-7-10 split.
