JEDDAH, 5 April — In the last round matches of Jeddah Cricket League Friday League Division One sponsored by Kanoo, Nadir Toor triumphed over UMA. Shalimar defeated SGB Green. Olympic Airways beat ACE Travel comprehensively. Kanoo registered an easy victory against Red Sea Paints. Rabie Express did not turn up for its match against Attar Travel.
Nadir Toor XI beat UMA by 34 runs
Nadir Toor XI posted 179 runs for 6 wickets while batting first and UMA managed 145 runs for 9 wickets in reply.
Nadir Toor XI tally of 179 runs contained an aggressive innings of 55 runs studded with 9 boundaries by Nadir Toor. He kept up the attack while wickets tumbled at the other end. Ghayour (10), Hashim (01), Akram (06), and Hamid (19) went cheaply. Ahmad (18) and Zubair (22 no) made timely contribution. Aizaz Toor remained unbeaten with 12. Mushtaq (2 for 21) and Nasir (2 for 26) kept batsmen watchful. Omar and Akbar claimed one wicket each for 28 and 19 runs respectively.
UMA batsmen did not rise to the occasion and could not break the shackles of Nadir Toor bowlers. Hashim (3 for 22) was main tormentor. He bowled intelligent line and length and had a just reward. Faraz (2 for 19) also troubled the batsmen. Only Mushtaq (24-2 fours) and Waqas (30-3 fours) faced the bowling with confidence. Omar (13), Anees (16), and Asim (19) reached double figures. UMA scored 145 in its allotted overs.
Shalimar defeated SGB Green by 8 wickets
Shalimar registered a comprehensive victory against SGB Green. SGB Green was shot out for a paltry 118 runs which Shalimar rattled in 12 overs for the lost of two wickets only. Nabeel (3 for 18) and Zain (3 for 20) combined together to demolish the batting of SGB Green. Tariq Jamal (3 for 19) performed the last rites. Sohail (29) and Jamshed (20) made worthwhile scores. Shahid remained unbeaten with 13. SGB Green was packed for 118 runs only.
Requiring 119 runs for victory, Tariq Jamal (32-5 fours) and Rahat (14) started at brisk pace but Jameel (2 for 31) dismissed both of them. Naveed 47 n.o. (7 fours as well as a six) blazed ball with brute force and SGB bowlers could not make any impression on him. Qasim contributed with unbeaten 11. Shalimar home in 12 overs without any further loss.
Olympic Airways too good for ACE Travel
Olympic Airways were set a target of 123 runs for victory which it acquired in only 13 overs and 6 wickets in hand.
Inspite of swashbuckling knock of 51 containing 8 hits to the ropes and a towering six by Mohsin Mirza, ACE Travel batsmen threw away the advantage of 52 runs opening wicket partnership in just 5 overs and could only muster 123 runs. Mubashir (14), Shahzad (11) and Shah Rukh (17) could not keep up the run rate. Shameem was most economical and dangerous. He claimed two scalps for 8 runs only. Ishtiaq (2 for 10) also bowled tight line and length. Amanullah (2 for 23) was comparatively expensive.
Mohsin Mirza (1 for 22) made an early breakthrough by having Shahid stumped for six but Amanullah (22) and Irfan (69-6 fours and a six) added 87 runs for the 2nd wicket partnership. Irfan dominated the bowlers and hit all round the wicket. Shahzad (2 for 20) picked two quick wickets and Mubashir (1 for 30) bowled Irfan but Abu Hassan (16 no) took Olympic Airways to victory without any further loss.
