RIYADH, 5 April — Hyderabad XI, Crystal C.C., Dar C.C., SCC and PMS C.C. recorded easy victories in the inaugural matches of the 2nd SACO Summer Cup 2002 softball cricket tournament being played at various grounds in Riyadh. In a match played at Al-Jeraisy grounds, Hyderabad XI batting first, scored 164 for 4 in allotted 16 overs with Muhammad Mazher was top scorer with an unbeaten 81 while Khaja contributed 37.

In reply, Fal C.C. scored 142 for 7 in their allotted overs. Sadath 35 and Roshan 21 were the main scorers for Fal C.C. Shakeel took 3 wickets for Hyderabad XI.

In another match, Crystal C.C. beat Al-Mashriq by 7 wickets. Batting first, Al-Mashriq scored 174. Bijju top scored for Al-Mashriq with a fine innings of 53 while Bilal took 3 wickets for Crystal. In reply, Crystal C.C. eclipsed the score losing 3 wickets. The main scorers for Al-Mashriq were Azher 36, Rasheed 52 and Bilal 35.

In matches played at Al-Azizia grounds, Dar C.C. beat ABB by 4 wickets. Batting first, ABB scored 81 with Yahya top scoring with 30 runs. Dar C.C. surpassed the score for 6 wickets. Afroze made 26 for Dar C.C.

In another match, Al-Jeraisy beat Evergreen XI by 72 runs. Batting first Al-Jeraisy scored 224 for 3 in stipulated overs. Sabir and Imran were amongst the runs for Al-Jeraisy with scores of 59 and 85 runs respectively. Chasing the target Evergreen XI were all out for 152. Toozaj scored elegant 61 for Evergreen XI.

In another match, hosts SACO lost to MEED by 8 wickets. Taking the first strike, SACO made 85 in allotted overs. Waqas was the only batsman to reach double figures. He scored 29. Hanif bowled well for MEED and took 5 wickets. In reply, MEED romped home losing 2 wickets. Faiz 40 and Sohail 22 were the scorers for MEED.

At Al-Malaz grounds, SCC beat Al-Tayyar by 7 wickets. Batting first, Al-Tayyar were all out for 98. Ismail made 27 runs for Al-Tayyar, while Ali and Younus of SCC took 4 and 3 wickets. In reply, SCC with the help of Abdullah 36 and Kashif 29 easily surpassed the score.

In another match, PMS beat Care Card by a whopping margin of 212 runs. Batting first, PMS with the help of brilliant 196 with 30 fours and 2sixes by Muhammad Hussain and a fine 95 by Naeem Akhtar scored 345. Care Card was all out for 133
