RIYADH, 19 April — Twin brothers Arjay and Anjo Suarez made it easier for D’Specialists team to beat D’Crisscrossers team during the third week of the ongoing Spring Tennis Challenge 2002 Team Tennis Tournament of the Association of Filipino Tennis Players (AFTP) in Riyadh. This action is taking place at the Al Yamama Hotel Sports Complex, Riyadh every Thursday and Friday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

D’Specialists routed D’Crisscrossers in a 48-22 score. The first doubles pair of twin brothers Arjay and Anjo Suarez trimmed down the pair of Erman Santiago and Gil Cruz at 8-5 followed by Bernard Andres and partner who dominated in the back court the pair of Bert Lopez and Ramon Montales 8-2. Cris Alviedo and partner also beat at 8-4 Fred Santos and Noel Ordonez. Daniel Valdez and Ben Corvera also stopped at 8-4 Jim Beringuel and Ahbet Bagay in the fourth game. Lito Lico and Pravo Devadas gunned down Ely Caisido and Sonny Pimentel at 8-4. Ed Jarin and Frankie Bajala surprised at 8-3 Jollie De Guzman and Allan Malawanda in the last game.

Tie Breakers 2 team scored a goal at 39-33 against the Al Mohr Cargo team. The first doubles combination of Ramon Eugenio and Boy Rogel succumbed to Rudy Alberto and Banny Esmenos at 4-8. However, Feras Shaltaf and Manny Delimos retaliated and nailed at 8-1 Elmer Aquino and Edward dela Cruz. Rizaldo Ostol and Allan Ponzones lost to a hard fought tiebreaker 7-8 against Arnel Mendoza and Manny Tapnio. Mohd Seraj and Chanson Alexander clipped at 8-1 Ely Serva and Louie Ignacio in the 4th game. Hisham Hizazi and Majed Shaltaf were overtaken by Allan Abrilla and Butch Bautista at 4-8. Cesar Arcenas and Noli Orejas won a thrilling tiebreaker 8-7 against Bogs Tagpuno and partner in the last game.

D’Conquerrors rampaged past Hard Ball team at 48-27. The 1st pair of Ramon Garra and Romy Guevarra caught off guard Hard Ball’s Romy Ramirez and Martin Malaluan at 8-4. Dong Elic and Ramil Kanico downed at 8-6 Gilbert Masias and Marlon dela Cruz. In the 3rd doubles, Dodong Tabotabo and Lito Errua beat off-form Art Bumatay and Roel Genzon at 8-4. Ben Gonzales and Mar Magbanua subdued at 8-1 Angel Bamba and Sonny Ocampo. Larry Constantino and Mar Magbanua closely cudgeled Hard Ball’s Lorie Adalin and Danny Perez in a tiebreaker 8-7 in the 5th game. It was in the last game when Mario Torrefiel and Kenneth Tulio hammered the last nail at 8-5 against Angel and Lorie.

Subok Lang spread their wings as they defeated Siemens at 46-36. During the Subok Lang and Siemens encounter, the 1st pair of Jigs Garcia and Rod Parco bowed to the spirited Dante Bautista and Neil Solomon at 7-8. Ting Banday and Jhun De Vera overwhelmed the newcomers Jonathan Del Pilar and Dennis Toledo at 8-3. In the 3rd game, Arnel Quijano and Jessie Hermano pinned down at 8-5 Archie Arcilla and Ver Fortaleza. Lito Ladio and Jojo Fabella battled their way over the heavy strokes of Romy Suarez and William Tayone at 8-6. Mark Musca and Darwin Suson sent backstage Neal Perez and Noli Esguerra at 8-6 in the 5th doubles, while the last doubles pair of Leo Gervacio and partner lost to a thrilling tiebreaker 7-8 against the power players Juanito Sanz and Tony Yap.
