RIYADH, 19 April — Finally, PSCC/Luzviminda and Al Bustan Mixers will vie for the best-of-three championship game started recenly at Riyadh Sheraton Hotel and Towers basketball court to be followed by a knockout game for third and fourth place between Al Habib Medical Center versus Sultan Sonics on Thursday.

PSCC/Luzviminda team of Roger Bajentung triumphed anew against Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Center. Meanwhile, Al Bustan Ready Mix Concrete team of Ramir Mariano claimd victory against Sultan Sonics Team showed they are the team to beat, in a contrasting styles play, to enter finals in the ongoing MHBA-NaRS Winter Cup 2002.

Jun Reyes, center forward of PSCC/Luzviminda Sports Team contributed 31 high flying points, 14 rebounds, 4 blocks shots displayed remarkable performance both in defense and offense putting high-five color to his team without any loss leading his team in one berth going to finals, albeit he fouled out in the dying minutes of the match.

Al Habib Medical Center started strong with Rommel Galivo, Danny Bugayong, Jeff Baybay, Deles and Yalung scoring 25 big points in the first quarter outscoring PSCC/Luzviminda team with a 25-16 score at buzzer end. Cano, Reyes, Libramonte, Noble, Soriano scattered a combined 33 points in the second quarter pulling their team with a 49-36 limiting Al Habib Medical Center a mere 11 points.

Al Habib managed to close in the third quarter with a 61-71 score a ten points lead by PSCC/Luzviminda at the buzzer end. Al Habib last ditch effort, a second deadlocked with 5 minutes left, Rommel Galivo scored a triple jumper equalizing score at 77-77.

Finally at the end of the buzzer of the final quarter, PSCC/Luzviminda win over Al Habib with final score 93-86.

Randy Fajardo, a power forward standout from Saudi Oger consistently contributed 24 big points, 4 rebounds, 2 assist, 1 steal for Al Bustan pocketed one of the final berth leading to a showdown for the best-of-three championship against PSCC/Luzminda team.

Coach Alex Dalisay of Al Bustan team fielded a strong five, Capati, Carreon A, Hernando, Farnal, and Fajardo to register a 27-25 score, a 2-point lead against PSCC/Luzviminda at the end of first quarter.

Sultan Sonics anemic scoring at second quarter padded the lead of Al Bustan team with a score of 61-42, a 19-point lead by Al Bustan team due to the fine play employed by Veterans bench Tactician Alex Dalisay. Hernando, playing from the rainbow area delivered 4 consecutive ICBM and a low post play by Aznar and Fajardo added injuries to Sultan Sonics. However, at the third quarter, Sultan coach Edwin Sarmiento fielded three of his big men, Almario, Perez, Manigbas complemented by Fugaban, Semilla and the Gana Brothers, trimming the lead of Al Bustan with a 81-70 score, an 11-point deficit of Sultan Sonics.

Abel Carreon, Farnal, Fajardo, Aznar, Capati and Dalisay easyli collected 27 points in the final quarter to finish with a score of 108-100. Randy Fajardo of Al Bustan garnered the Best Player of the game received a gift certificate donated by Al Mohr Cargo, courtesy of Roel Langit and Jorge Manalansan.
