JEDDAH, 19 April — Class “B” bowler Rodell Ricafort scorched the lanes of the Jeddah Bowling Center (JBC) during the 35th week of the Tuesday Night League organized by the Brotherhood Bowling Group (BBG).
PICPA-PRO stalwart Ricafort burned lanes 21 and 22 after unfolding his impressive performances in three games en route to collect the bowler of the week award at a series of 711 pins including handicap.
After a spare on frame one of the first game, Ricafort unleashed eight solid strikes, scored 256 and led PICPA-PRO in amassing hundreds of pins.
The 256-feat recorded at the start was his best high game record ever. He remained steady and uncompromising, hit a turkey on the second game for a score of 216 and a double for 182 on the final set. His scores were fortified by a 19-pin handicap per game.
With the assists from Paul Antiporda (657), Danny Cofreros (616), and Jimmy Rosillo (571), PICPA-PRO received 84-point credits and closed the books for the week with impressive gains.
PICPA’s first transaction tallied at 886 and it posted 21 points. The total in the second game (864 pins) gained another 21 points and their final journal entry of 809 had a networth of 21. With a series of 2555, PICPA-PRO was awarded 21 rank points that propelled them to earn the distinction of being the team of the week.
Internet At Kape quartet of Goying Salazar, Roger Dacquioag, Mixi Lechuga and Alex Guinto was also producing impressive games during week, scored 78 points and returned on top of the pack with 59.5 points away from the Al Alamiah Insektos.
Internet was eyeing for another team of the week award after grabbing 22 points at the start but on the second game, the “computer” went down that the quartet merely produced 784 pins (12 points).
Although Internet snatched the maximum points on the final game and 22 rank points for their series of 2613, they failed to overhaul the difference produced by the consistent spins of PICPA-PRO.
Ruben Medina, Bert Tuvera, Leo Edejer and Rudy Valenzuela of Top Gun were unyielding in their match against Internet. After dropping the first game (17-22), the quartet accelerated on the second set and took the upperhand by one point (35-34). On the last leg, however, Top Gun lost heavily (800-911). Although they were devastated, Top Gun went home with 73.5 points at a series of 2,426.
N-Ball foursome of Alex Tabusares, Bien Hermosura, Lavern Laderas and Leo Pangilinan swept a total score of 73 points at a series of 2430 (20 points).
Pitted against Thunderball bowlers Joe Flores, Jaffer Al Qatheri, Dasugi Mohammad and Wadia Mohammad, N-Ball produced at the lines of 838 (19 points), 809 (17 points) and 783 (17 points). Thunderball went home with 17 points.
Joey Salvador, Nick Suing, Vera Verasak and Mar Narvasa of Libby’s Hot Line scored 69 points when the Power Strikers failed to show up throughout the match.
Igna Salgado seared lanes 15 and 16 on the second game and hit 268 that propelled Sarawat Aces to collect 65.6 points. Nap Patayan, Rally Zamora and Odjie Sagcal assisted Salgado throughout the match. The incomplete lineup of Otra Cosa, played by Jun Pilipina, Rudy Punzalan and Val Magsino, outscored Sarawat by three points (16-13) on the final game (778-764) that brought their total to 34 points.
In other pairs of lanes, Seiko team outscored D’Amigos (27.5-17). Saudi Diyar Consultants scored high when Bakin & Co had defaulted. The Falcon flew away with 54.5 points while MBC scored 49 at the tunes of 8, 14 and 18, which were backed up by the 9 rank points.
SkyFreight Forwarders is now nine points away from the second runner after scoring 49.5 points out of their match against the team with a logo of four questions marks and one exclamation point (????!).
Igna Salgado (268), Roger Dacquioag (254), Val Magsino (255), Bob Marcantel (267) and Rodel Ricafort (258) submitted entries to the BBG Elite Club while Goying Salazar (255) submitted his sixth.
