DAMMAM, 19 April — The superb performance of Shining Star shattered the dreams of Blue Moon in the third match of the Eastern Province Football Tournament here at Dammam Saptco Football ground on last Friday. In the first half of the game D.V.Noufal fired in a low right-footer from 12 yards after receiving a cross from Suneer from the left flank which proved the winner for Shining Star. Blue Moon played well but squandered several chances. This is the second consecutive victory for Shining Star which has raised their chances for entering the final.
“We’re excited, it’s a great victory. Our boys played well, ”said coach K.V. Fazalu while complimenting the victory.
Shameem Backer (KFA referee), Amza Malappuram and K.V.Mamu Koya were the referees for the match. Silver Storm will face Rising Sun on April 19.
In the football match for children, Silver Storm defeated Shining Star through a sudden-death goal after the match was ended in a 1-1 draw during the regular time and also in the penalty shootout. During the first half Mazer Saleem netted first goal for Shining Star. But the lead was lasted only for a short time. In the second half, Fahad Aboobacker notched the equalizer for Silver Storm. The match ended in a tie and the followed penalty shootout also ended in a tie. Through sudden-death Silver Storm declared as the winners. Mudaffer Mehaboob netted the tie-breaking goal for Silver Storm.
