JEDDAH, 19 April — NetJets defeated Papa John Pizza 60-57 in Sames-JBL basketball tournamen. NetJets escaped a near defeat in the hands of Papa John Pizza. NetJets managed to maintain a double margin lead up to the third quarter. In the resumption of the fourth quarter, Papa John Pizza applied a man-to-man defense to reduce the lead. With only 8 seconds remaining and Papa John Pizza got the ball possession, Carbo took a 3 points desperation shoot to even the score for a possible overtime. The ball bounced the rim and went out. NetJets players and supporters celebrated the hard-earned victory. Delos Reyes scored 27 points for NetJets while Argota was top scorer with 20 points for Papa John Pizza.
In another game, Sames Pest Control beat Ajwa RMTI 68-65. It was a ding-dong battle between the two ballclubs. Sames Pest Control with only 7 players did their best at the end of third quarter. Ajwa RMTI tried to outrun the tired opponents but a costly error in the dying seconds gave the Sames Pest Control their first win. Diansay and Manglicmot scored 28 and 24 points respectably for Sames Pest Control while Mendoza top score with 21 points for Ajwa RMTI.
In Friday’s game, Fitaihi defeated NetJets 65-57. Both teams played well in the whole game. Fitaihi managed to put pressure defense to Delos Reyes the main man of NetJets especially in the dying seconds. NetJets tried to out run Fitaihi but missed the important baskets. Preclaro top score with 17 points for Fitaihi Jewelers while Delos Reyes scored 36 points for NetJets.
In the next game, Panda Azizia scored over Daniel/Erik All Star 64-55. Panda Azizia pounded the defense of Eriks all star in the fourth quarter with accurate snipping. Daniel/Erik All Star tried to stay in contention but could not stop their slide. Diaz was top scorer with 20 points for Panda Azizia while Canete scored 22 points for Erik All Star.
