JEDDAH, 3 May — Amico defeated Luna-Alesayi 65-60 in the Sames-JBL basketball tournament. Amico Freshlook displayed fine performance during the game. Luna-Alesayi tried to break the defensive wall of 6’5" Jamal to put him in foul trouble but he played wisely and swat every shot in front of him. Amico-Al Amin Medical Instrument & Co. with GM Fahad Kassis supporting throughout the game gave his ward a lot of encouragement. Jamal was the top scorer with 29 points for Amico-Freshlook while De Jesus scored 19 points for Luna-Alesayi.
In another game, Fitaihi Jewellers beat Arabian Homes 61-58. It was a seasaw battle between the two teams. Fitaihi Jewelers applied pressure defense in the fourth quarter that caught Arabian Homes playmaker flat-footed. Agustin was top scorer with 23 points for Fitaihi Jewelers while Balajadia was top scorer with 18 points for Arabian Homes.

In Thursday’s games, Jologs escaped a near defeat at the hands of Ajwa RMTI 61-60. Jologs, playing with only 7 players in uniform, displayed a lot of stamina during the game. Both teams battled for the driver’s seat up to the last minute of the game. With only 3 seconds remaining Jologs were leading by 3 points when Ajwa RMTI found Casinillo and took a desperation jumper and the ball went in but he stepped on the three points line for two points only. Dred was top scorer with 17 points for Jologs while Salinas scored 19 points for Ajwa RMTI.
In the next game, Sames Pest Control defeated Panda Azizia 81-66. Panda Azizia missed the services of their ace gunner Diaz and the tower of power Ric Debaras. Sames Pest Control showed Panda Azizia their killer run and gun offense with Larry Sunga attacking the baskets and Nonoy Guarra pounding the three points area. Sunga and Guarra scored 17 point apiece for Sames Pest Control while Jimenes scored 19 points for Panda Azizia.
