JEDDAH, 10 May — Another milestone in the history of Jeddah Expatriates Darters International (JEDI) to unveil this coming weekend as the Power Horse, SkyFreight Forwarders Super Darts 2002 darted its way with a loud bang at the Orient Pearl Seafood Restaurant. Heading the lists of distinguished guests during the opening ceremony are Consul General Kadatuan P. Usop of the Philippine Consulate of Jeddah, Khalid Al Zargani, Marketing Manager, the sole distributors of Power Horse Energy Drink, and Emie de Guzman of SkyFreight Forwarders being co-sponsor of the tournament and will shed a light message to the crowd and to declare the tournament open.
This is the first time that Power Horse and SkyFreight Forwarder are joining hands to stage the most-successful darts event in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Joining in once again as co-sponsors of the league are ABS/CBN — The Filipino Channel, Giordano Fashions, Orient Pearl Seafoods & Restaurant with the special acknowledgment to Toufic Majdalani — general manager, TMI-JWT and Ronald Mangua of Internet@Kape.
The program proper starts by the opening remarks from the Chairman of the Board — Orly Mamaril followed by inspirational talk of Kadatuan P. Usop. There will be an awarding of trophies from the last year event, then the induction of JEDI Officers 2002-2003 by Kadatuan P. Usop. This year’s JEDI officers (Gerry Quinto - President, Jess Labanda - Vice President, Tom Malcontento - Treasurer, Reymund Sibayan - Secretary and Efren Tajonera - Auditor). The parade of teams and Master of Ceremony will be hosted by Ed Pamintuan.
This year’s format will run for a period of eight months highlighted by the 13th offering of the Jeddah Inter-Commercial Darts League, a newly-devised Philippine Independence Cup Single/Doubles event, followed by the Non-Rated Singles’ tournament and the highly-coveted Open Singles’ 2002 Crown.
The JEDI Inter-Commercial Darts League is now divided into two Divisions, Division I for the open class division composed of J. Walter Thompson Dart Team, Orient Pearl Dart Team, Dart Vader - V, Al Saad Contracting Dart Team, Jeddah Graphics Center and Al Jazzar Dart Team. Division II for the non-rated darters comprising of Rayaks ñ AACC Dart Team, Green Giants, HYPERLINK "mailto:Internet@Kape" Internet@Kape and the Power Horse Dart Team.
