JEDDAH, 10 May — Giordano Fashions have confirmed their all-out support for the upcoming 1st IBA Final Four Invitational Basketball Tournament. This major sponsorship was made possible by the endeavors of East Trading Activities Director General, Hani Abdulaziz Saab and Giordano Fashions General Manager, Abdul Kader Jeelani.
The IBA Final Four Tournament, with its unique and exciting ‘double elimination’ format, promises to be an electrifying event with extravagant awards! Opening Day is confirmed for Friday, May 17 at 7 p.m.The venue is the beautiful sports complex of SKAB Compound, located on Malik Road, north of Heraa Street.
Opening Day activities include the traditional "Parade" of teams with a new aspect of 5 to 8-year-old girls leading the teams. These "young" muses will each receive gifts and the best three will be awarded generous commemorative inscriptions for their teams. Judges will be on hand to judge the player uniforms.
The criterion for the beautiful "Best Uniform" awards are limited to the jersey (sando) and shorts only and no extra credit will be given for jackets, jogging pants, shoes, bags or warm-ups. Uniforms will judged according to appearance, design, color and attractiveness.
Opening Day also features the first of two "North" vs. "South" All-Star Games.
The IBA features a "Half-Time Challenge" during each game of the tournament where valuable gifts and prizes are given away to participating fans in the crowd! Fans who partake in the contest may choose between attempting a shot from the free throw line, the 3 point line or the half court line for a chance to win different prizes. Other contests are on the way as prizes keep pouring into the IBA!
The IBA Committee consists of Omar Bill Lowrey , Mahmoud Protacio (Tournament Chairman/Director), Abdulaziz Conwi, Ibrahim Sarmiento, Ismail Felices, Ismail Perey, Ismael Rosales, Muhammad Protacio, Raisan Berroya and Zaid Aspriras. Three Coordinators from SKAB Compound are assisting the IBA, namely: Bobby Rios, Abet Manicio and Jeffrey De Leon. The IBA also has its own qualified referees to officiate during the games: Muhammad Babao, Muhammad Shabouni, Marwan Domasian, Majid Abdullah, Dawood Antonio and Muhammad Marwani. Islamic Education Foundation-Al Hamra office are also supplying the services of expert cameraman Omar Malvar and Abdullah Celso.
Saudi German Hospital Group has generously offered to have a qualified medical technician on hand for all games. Any players injured or needing first aid will be attended to at courtside free of charge.
