JEDDAH, 24 May — AVK Arabian Homes beat Tetra Pak 84-67 in Sames-JBL basketball tournament in Bagdadiyah district near in Balad. Both teams played well up to the third quarter. AVK Arabian Homes pounded the defense of Tetra Pak in the fourth quarter with an accurate passing and a barrage of three points shot.
Tetra Pak tried to keep the scores at bay but they lose their steam in the last two minutes of the game. Balajadia topscored with 28 points for AVK Arabian Homes while Estanislao scored 20 points for Tetra Pak.
In the next game, Jologs escaped a near defeat at the hands of Sames Pest Control, 71-70. Jologs tried to dictate the tempo of the game but Sames Pest Control with Larry Sunga running havoc all over the floor managed to keep the score at bay. Sames Pest Control even undermanned due to the absence of Guarra and Agustin gallantry fight till the final buzzer sounded. Cesar and Padua scored 19 points a piece for Jologs while Sunga topscored with 30 points for Sames Pest Control.
In Friday’s games, Azizia Panda beat Luna Alesayi 76-69 in a highly-contested match. Both teams showed tremendous basketball skills throughout the game. Scores kept changing sides in the entire game.
Azizia Panda tried trapping defense but Luna Alesayi with high leaper Manlapaz and quick cat Quizon alternately escaping to their defense and converted easy baskets. With only two minutes remaining, Azizia Panda with Jimenez and Diaz continuously attacking the defense of Luna Alesayi with a no fear penetration and perimeter jumpers to score 3 wins in 5 outings. Jimenez topscored with 18 points for Azizia Panda while Manlapaz and Quizon scored 24 and 23 points respectively for Luna Azizia.
In another game, Tetra Pak bounce back from Thursday defeat and beat Al Mouawad Jewelers 72-58. Tetra Pak played like a well-oiled machine. They pass the ball well to the open man and converted their shots with a high percentage. Al Mouawad tried to control the ball but the night was belonged to Tetra Pak which were unstoppable in all angles. Rodney topscored with 25 points for Tetra Pak while Padua scored 22 points for Al Muawad Jewelers.
In another game, Amico Freshlook defeated Daniel/Erik 54-53. Amico Freshlook with Jamal dominating the offensive department while veteran Arnel Tablante orchestrating the plays for Daniel/Erick. Daniel/Erik would have won the match had they not committed a passing error in the dying moments.
Amico Freshlook with 5-0 card almost sure for the first seat in the best-of-three championship series. Jamal scored 16 points for Amico Freshlook while Tablante topscored with 20 points for Daniel/Erik.
