India is currently playing a dirty game. It is exploiting the consequences of the Sept. 11 attacks in the Untied States. India is suppressing its Muslim citizens while supporting or condoning the attacks of the Hindu extremists on Muslims. Famous Indian writer and human rights activist Arundhathi Roy described the atrocities against Indian Muslims as reminiscent of the Nazi murders of Jews and other ethnic minorities in Europe in the thirties and the forties of the last century.
She wrote in the Outlook weekly that Hindu leaders had prepared an on-line hit list of the Muslim houses, shops and establishments. The outrages were carried out against the Muslims and their commercial establishments under the Gujarat police’s protection and involvement.
She pointed an accusing finger at the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and its subsidiary organizations called Sangh Parivar for the continued bloodshed. She said these organizations started a campaign to poison the minds of the children and younger generation with the religious hatred through several strategies including distorted history textbooks. She added that this movement is no less harmful than the madrassas in Pakistan and Afghanistan which served as the breeding ground for the Taleban.
India’s current relations with its Muslim neighbor Pakistan is extremely tense. India blames Pakistan for supporting terrorists though no conclusive evidence to prove it is found. This terrorist bogey is raised in an apparent move to exploit the current American sensibilities against terrorist attacks in order to settle old scores with Pakistan. India is also striving to mobilize the international public opinion against Pakistan.
India persists in its claim that there is no issue called Kashmir. It attempts to convince the people that the Kashimiris demanding their legitimate rights are not just criminals but hard-core terrorists. India further argues that the Pakistani Army supports the terrorists to serve its strategic interests and therefore the world should support India to eliminate these terrorists. There is a grim resemblance in India’s systematic suppression of its Muslim citizens, denial of the legitimate rights of the Kashmiris and provocation to Pakistan and Israel’s repression of the Palestinians in the occupied territories, denial of the legitimate rights of the Palestinians and the provocation to neighboring Arab countries charging them with supporting Palestinian “terrorism”.
The parallel between the Indian and Israeli strategies is not an accident. It is the outcome of long-time joint planning and scheming between the military intelligence of the two countries. There are ample evidence to prove the covert Indo-Israeli alliance which began several years ago. The collaboration between the two countries has developed to the point of Israel supplying sophisticated weapons to India. Finally, when Israel decided to sell interceptor missiles to India the US State Department objected though later the US authorities cleared the deal on the argument that India needed to be reinforced to counter the Pakistan-supported terrorism.
Israel also claimed that this deal is an open message to the Muslim countries, which are striving to develop non-conventional weapons that Israel will foil their attempts at any cost.
The ultimate goal of this dreadful alliance is much more sinister than the Indian claim of countering the Kashimiri terrorists allegedly backed by its neighbor. The secret target is India’s huge Muslim population. With such shortsighted policies, India is, in fact, jeopardizing its long-term strategic and economic interests. With the uncovering of India’s dirty game, India will no more be able to deceive the Arabs by pretending to be their friends.
