JEDDAH, 29 September — Al-Shabab qualified for the semifinals of the Prince Faisal ibn Fahd Cup soccer tournament with a facile 2-0 victory over Al-Qadsiyah in the Group A clash.
The victory gave Shabab 19 points and a clear lead at the top of the table. Qadsiyah are second with 15 points. Rida Takur (20th) and Mansour Al-Dossari (57th) struck clinically on the either side of the half to give Shabab full points.
In Group B, Al-Ahli vaulted to the top of the table, over idle Al-Ittihad, following their 2-1 verdict over Najmah in Unaizah. A brace by Ali Dhawi enabled Ahli to come away winners.
After Dhawi’s 19th minute strike was canceled out by a Mishaan Motairi’s 55th minute goal, Ahli need just eight more minutes to forge ahead. Dhawi struck true in the 63rd minute and the Ahli defense then closed out the Najmah players. Ahli top the group with 22 points, but Ittihad, with 19 points and in second place, have a game in hand.
In another Group B encounter, Al Ta’ie beat Al-Raed 2-1 in Hail. Hamadji (49th) and Ahmad Manawar (66th) scored for Ta’ie while Mutlak Al-Gharabi reduced the margin in the 85th minute.
