JEDDAH, 1 November — Vice Consul Jose Jacob of Philippine Consulate won the Community Chess Club Series 6 (Round Robin and Stepladder Final) Amateur Chess Tournament at Al- FAF hotel (Sep. 13 to Oct. 25).
Newcomer Jacob joined the Amateur Club (Blue) Master of Community Chess Club: Ramon Andrada of ABV Rock (Series One Champion-Jan. 04 to Feb. 15, 2002), Jimmy De Leon of Alma Glass (Series Two Champion-Feb. 22 to Mar. 29), Mike Sangalang of King Faisal Naval Base (Series Three Champion-Apr. 05 to May 17), Lheo Trinchera of Al Fun Advertising (Series Four Champion-May 24 to Jul. 26), Joey Franco (Series Five Champion-Aug. 02 to Sep. 13).

Jacob defended the ladder 2 positions against Willy Sabungan of Shamrock (ladder 3) and Gerry Calixto of Hilti (ladder 1) respectively.
