RIYADH, 1 November — Awais Ahmed’s unbeaten 128 for Saudi Ericsson, Nayeem Akbar’s fine 101 with 10 fours for Meezan Spices and deadly spell by Sohail Aftab (5 wickets for 14 runs) for Saudia Milk were the highlights of 3rd round matches in the on going 20 over Carrier Cup warm-up tourney at RCA cricket grounds.
Winning the toss and batting first Saudi Ericsson helped by Awais Ahmed’s brilliant innings scored 186 for 6 in their allotted 20 over against Kanoo XI. In reply Kanoo XI were restricted to 155 for 7 in their stipulated overs. In another match Nayeem Akbar’s century went in vain as Young Star beat Meezan Spices by 5 wickets. Batting first Meezan Spices aided by Nayeem Akbar’s brilliant 101 scored respectable 196 in allotted 20 overs. Chasing the target, helped by some sloppy fielding Young Star romped home with 5 balls to spare. At RCA-3 ground Sohail Aftab bowled a deadly spell and helped Saudia Milk to an emphatic victory over Paggy C.C. Earlier taking the strike first Saudia Milk amassed 209 for 4 in allotted 20 overs. Arif Mahmood top-scored with an unbeaten 68. Else where Pak-Shaheen scored an easy victory over Al-Taqniah, Indo-Pak aided by Suresh’s all round performance (64 n.o. & 3 wickets for 16 runs) beat KFSH & RC, Saqib lost to Mehran Spices and Carrier scored 9 wicket victory over KSU.
