JEDDAH, 1 November — In Division I of the Kanoo Friday League sponsored by the Kanoo Group and organized by Jeddah Cricket League, 4 matches were played in the 2nd week of the Tournament. Shabbir from Jotun Red Sea Paints and Quddus from Deccan Blues scored centuries to confirm victories for their respective clubs against Kanoo Travels and Ace Travels respectively, whereas, Juffali Michelin had an easy win over Attar Travels and in a low scoring match, Al-Sharif Shalimar defeated Dabbagh.
The summarized results of these matches are as follows: Shabbir’s unbeaten century of 104 runs, ensured the victory of 13 runs for Jotun Red Sea Paints against Kanoo Travels. Shabbir faced a crucial situation when Shakeel retired hurt due to head injury. He hit 10 fours and a six in his individual score while Arshad (20) and Liaqat (19) contributed to the total of 175 for 4 in 19 overs. Shamim, the senior most bowler of Kanoo Travels, took 2 for 25. In reply, Kanoo Travels could score 162 for 8. Losing 3 wickets, one after the other, Majeed struggled for a big partnership but filed. He scored 71 runs with 9 fours and a six. On his return, Arif and Hussain of Red Sea dominated rest of the batting line other than Kashif (34). Earlier, Suhail Butt scored 26 runs. Arif chopped off 4 for 18 and Hussain took 3 for 24. In response to the swelled total, Attar climbed upto 134 with Kashif (36), Ghufran (34) and Qaddafi (20). Hamid Butt of Juffali chipped in 4 for 19. Al-Sharif Shalimar defeated Dabbagh by 10 runs in a low scoring tie. Shalimar scored 148 for 5 in 18 overs. Tariq (23) and Naveed (19) opened for Shalimar. Having the shaky start, they also lost Abdullah (17), but Rahat (23) and Zain (42) resisted up to 148. Anis from Dabbagh claimed 3 for 28. In reply, Dabbagh too commenced their innings hesitantly and lost 3 wickets when the total was 62 on board, resulting which Anis (32) was faltering between the wickets. Later, Shakeel and Nadeem scored 20 and 17 runs respectively to reach 138 for 8. Tahir, Tariq and Zain shared 2 wickets each conceding 35, 23 and 26 runs respectively.
