MADINAH, 3 January 2003 — Pakistani Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali told a gathering of Pakistanis here that his government will introduce a new political culture to ensure the welfare of the down-trodden.
He said the common man will have access to government officials who will be bound to solve their problems.
Jamali, who is on a visit to the Kingdom, said Pakistan is impregnable, because its 140 million people are its guards. He said Pakistan faces no threat and has the capability to repel any aggression.
He said his government will uphold the principles of democracy “but in politics there is always flexibility.”
About the allocation of five million rupees to each MP for development work in his constituency, Jamali said proper utilization of the money will be ensured. Unlike in the past, the government will ensure that public life is corruption-free.
Jamali said a cell will be opened at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat to receive complaints and suggestions from overseas Pakistanis. It will try to solve their problems.
Referring to the “excellent” Pak-Saudi relations, Jamali said the Kingdom was the first country to recognize Pakistan after its creation in 1947.
He urged the members of the Pakistani community to play their role in the development of Saudi Arabia.
