JIZAN, 9 January 2003 — An Indonesian housemaid tried to commit suicide by taking poison here recently, Al-Watan daily reported yesterday. The Saudi family, which employed the maid, called police as they suspected something was amiss when the woman spent an unusually long period in the toilet and refused to answer their pleas to come out. The police broke open the door of toilet where they found her in critical condition. She was quickly taken to hospital. An investigation has been launched.
