JIZAN, 12 January 2003 — Police in Jizan have arrested an old woman in connection with the disappearance of a young woman here, an informed source has told Arab News.
An anonymous telephone caller has told the young woman’s family that she is now in Yemen, but did not elaborate.
The woman, who had been working as a beautician, disappeared after going to the village of Abu Areesh with her brother to attend a wedding. After they arrived at the village, they met an old woman who told the young woman’s brother that she would care for her and that the brother should return in the evening to collect her.
However, when he returned he found that there was no one at the house where the wedding was supposed to have taken place. The man then informed the police, who immediately launched an investigation.
