AL-AHSA, 19 January 2003 — According to study, more than 85 percent of road accidents in the Kingdom are caused by human error. Citing official statistics, the study by Professor Ali Al-Ghamdi and Col. Amin ibn Abdul Hameed said rash driving and violating traffic rules caused most accidents, according to Okaz newspaper. The authors of the study said more than 300,000 traffic ticket are issued every year for wrong parking, 22,000 tickets for making wrong turns, 30,000 for jumping red lights and more than 80,000 tickets for wrong overtaking.
