JEDDAH, 20 January 2003 — ArtAlive 2 will be exhibiting the works of a leading Turkish artist, Ismail Acar. The show, organized by BMG Financial Advisors, will be held in Jeddah during the first week of May and then proceed to Riyadh and Alkhobar.
“The exhibition is part of cultural exchanges which are very important to create a solid foundation for various cultures to meet with one another,” explained BMG’s President, Basil Al Ghalayini.
About 30-plus paintings will be on display from Acar’s works. Prior to the exhibition, he will spend a brief time in Saudi Arabia to paint selected images related to Saudi archeology, architecture and nature.
“The idea is to make Saudi Arabia a venue for leading international exhibitions and enable them to interact with Saudi artists and for university students to study and appreciate art. Proceeds of the show will go to local charities,” Al Ghalayini said.
As for the artist, Acar was born in 1971 and graduated at the top of his class from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Marmara University in 1991. He received his Master of Arts Degree in the same faculty in “Technology and Art” and “Postmodernism” in 1993.
He has participated in many group exhibitions within and outside Turkey and has presented more than 20 solo exhibitions in Turkey, Bahrain, England. Acar combines contemporary media techniques, including computer technology, with traditional painting techniques to produce his unique style.
