BAGHDAD, 24 January 2003 — Iraq’s Housing and Construction Minister Maan Abdallah Sarsam has awarded a number of Saudi, Egyptian and Syrian companies contracts to build housing complexes in Iraq, newspapers reported yesterday.
“Our ministry has signed a number of contracts with Saudi companies to carry out projects for housing complexes in Iraq,” Sarsam was quoted as saying.
The new housing complexes will be made up of six to 10 floors each, Sarsam said, without giving further details.
“These contracts come as a boost to the joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries,” he said.
The minister added that “about 22 contracts have also been signed with Egyptian and Syrian companies for the construction of similar housing complexes.” (AFP)
