RIYADH, 24 January 2003 — Faluda and Lahore C.C. entered the finals of the Tariq Yousuf Memorial softball cricket tournament, beating Wahsee Toula and Young friends respectively at Malaz grounds Riyadh.

In the morning semifinals, Faluda scored an easy 7-wicket victory over Wahsee Toula. Batting first, Wahsee Toula scored 138 in their allotted overs. Faluda’s Gulam Nabi and Shah bowled well and took 4 and 3 wickets respectively giving away 39 and 24 runs. Chasing an easy target Faluda scored the required runs losing 3 wickets. Gulam Nabi 38 and Mahmood 27 were amongst the run-getters for Faluda. Amir of Wahsee Toula took 2 wickets conceding 39 runs.

In the afternoon semifinals, Lahore C.C. aided by Niaz Khan’s brilliant all- round display scored a comfortable 6 wicket victory over Young Friends. Rashid contributed a useful 36 to Lahore C.C. total.

Earlier, Young Friends had scored 158 for 9 in their stipulated overs. Jhangeer topscored with 55 and Naveed chipped in with a useful 37. Niaz Khan and Tanveer shared the bowling honors for Lahore C.C. claiming 3 and 4 wickets respectively by giving away 17 and 44 runs. Finals will be played in the afternoon on 24th January 2003 at Malaz Grounds. (Syed Taqiuddin)
