RIYADH, 24 January 2003 — The Passing Shots team of Lito Anolacion and Tisoy de Leon won 44-30 against the NCB Netters team headed by Mario Torrefiel and Jhun Ponce at Court no. 4 in the AFTP Winter Tennisfest being played at the Al-Yamama Hotel Sports Complex along Old Airport Road, Riyadh every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
The Saudi Telecom team of Dennis Pangilinan and Ramon Montales got past the Powerbrokers team of Felix Pacleb and Danny Collantes at Court 3 to complete Friday’s early matches for the ABC Category.
Thursday games for the ABC Category saw the Racqueteers-2A group of Lito Ladio and Ariel Quijano quickly seize control of their matches and dispatched Saudi Telecom 43-32 while the Powerlines HV team of Godo Sarmiento and Wilfredo Nicolas overpowered D’Perfect Bullet team of Noli Orejas and Robert Romero at court no. 5. The Esprit Timewear Netters team of Romy Guevarra and Robert Romero registered a 44-29 victory against the Smashing Pumpkins of Angel Aniag followed by the Marikudu Smashers group of Raffy Ocnilla and Kenneth Tulio winningg 40-37 over the Riles Homers Barkada of
Rolly Idpan and Jimmy Pastrana. The Berks group of Eddie Galvez and Dong Elic brushed aside Abdullah Fouad Co. Acers of Robert Manuel and Jimmy Formilleza.
Riding the momentum, the Maffi-A team of Ramon Montales and Ronnie Bigtas did not change their tactics and momentarily paralyzed the Specialists-2 at 48-21 while the Centennial Restaurant Aces team of Ariel Palmero and Rey Beninsig was bundled out at 28-45 by the Racqueteers-2B group of Jigs Garcia and Ting Banday. In the B/C Category, the Riles Homers Barkada mentored by Rolly Idpan and Jimmy Pastrana stunned the Racqueteers-2B of Ting Banday and Jigs Garcia to snatch a victory at 37-35 at Court no. 2. D’specialists-2 team of brothers Cris and Alex Alviedo chased at 40-29 the Abdullah Fouad Co. Acers team of Robert Manuel and Jimmy Formilleza in Court no. 5 of the AFTP Winter Tennisfest. Moving up, the SOMC Fighters of Alfred Pastolero and Rod Tango continued their mastery of tennis over the Centennial Restaurant Aces team of Ariel Palmero and Rey Beninsig at 47-26.
The Industrial Area’s Marikudu Smashers of Raffy Ocnilla and Kenneth Tulio survived a scare to hammer out a hard earned 38-36 victory against the Aces & Faults team of Noli Orejas and Rolly Torres.
