RIYADH, 7 February 2003 — It’s all set. The 2003 Haj Goodwill Games under the auspices of the Philippine Embassy through the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) will roll off on Feb. 12 at the Al Khozama Hotel Bowling Center.
The games are organized by the Filipino Overseas Bowlers of Riyadh (FOBR), the accredited community partner of the Philippine Embassy in the Filipino bowling community. The aims are pagkakaisa (unity) among OFWs in line with the theme of the recently concluded OFW Friendship Games in Manila, to unite the fractious Filipino bowling enthusiasts in the city and for brotherhood and understanding. FOBR is currently chaired by Aurel Farinas.
Philippine Airlines (PAL), the flag carrier of the Republic of the Philippines through country manager Jun Ordillano, will provide a roundtrip ticket (Riyadh-Manila-Riyadh) to the champion in the Master’s Event.
Aside from cash prizes, valuable home appliances and electronic items will be awarded to the champions in various events. These are provided by the Philippine National Bank through Regional Vice President Cheng Rasul, which was facilitated by the KSA Country Manager Usman ‘Manny’ Navarro; Adamjee Insurance Company Limited through Branch Manager Shaikh Mohammad Saleem and Mohammed Ahmed; Power Horse Energy Drink through country Manager Mike Haroon; KUDU Food Chain and Restaurant through Operations Director Mustapha Al Hamadi and Ziad Hamadi; Al-Khozama Hotel through Sports Manager Saeed Al-Zaharani and Bowling Supervisor Jojo Bulan; Alyemni Motors Co. through its President and General Manager Said A. Al-Yemni facilitated by its Deputy General Manager Ahmed M. Al-Saleh; The Gulf Cooperation Insurance Co., Ltd., through Managers Murtaza Saidi and Syed Abrar Zaidi; Salem Recruitment Company through Ramil ‘Boyet’ Mercado; Fast Track Recruitment through Munther Felemban; Flash Cargo International Forwarders through Cargo General Manager Arnold de la Cruz.
Five LG Model 131 refrigerators will be given away to the champion in the 5-man team event.
Three vacuum cleaners to the winners in the trio event. Two gas stoves for the champions in the doubles event.
Microwave for the best player in the Singles Event and a washing machine for the All Events winner.
