JEDDAH, 25 February 2003 — Saudi Arabia has readied a massive force of 15,000 men to counter possible fires at the country’s oil fields and installations, according to Maj. Gen. Saad Al-Tuwaijeri, director of Civil Defense. He told Okaz daily that Civil Defense had acquired advanced fire-fighting machinery and materials. “We have also trained officers who could be transported by plane to different locations if necessary,” he added.
