The US Robotics 9000 SureConnect ADSL USB modem has passed stringent testing by Saudi Telecom (STC). The modem is designed for self-installation and allows individuals and small and medium-sized businesses to affordably take advantage of DSL connectivity. The SureConnect software simplifies the installation process by automatically checking the computer for minimum system requirements. The software also allows users to turn on immediate broad band access with Plug and Play USB support; no additional network cards are needed, and necessary DSL values are chosen by the software from a convenient pop-up menu. The SureConnect 9000 ADSL USB modem meets or exceeds the TR-048 benchmark for ADSL performance testing. The SureConnect’s download rates of up to 8 Mbps — more than 145 times faster than 56K analog dial-up modems — provides the speed and bandwidth for such robust applications as audio and video streaming, remote network access/telecommuting and online gaming. US Robotics and Al-Faisaliah Integrated Media Establishment are currently in talks with ISPs and retailers across the Kingdom to ensure that the product is widely available.
