JEDDAH, 2 March 2003 — More than 150 jobs are available for Saudis in the Jeddah fish market and the number is expected to rise to 250 very soon.
Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Haza, director-general of the national project for training and employment in the Makkah region, told Arab News that the authorities planned to employ Saudis in the fish market in accordance with the directives of Makkah Governor Prince Abdul Majeed to Saudize all jobs in the market.
A circular has been sent to store owners and investors in the market to specify their need for Saudis to work as salesmen, Al-Haza said.
Initially, cleaning, loading and unloading jobs would be excluded. The government will only monitor the Saudization process and will not interfere in the matter of employment or salary.
