JEDDAH, 7 March 2003 — Leaders Al-Ittihad sustained their successful stride in the King Fahd Cup Soccer Tournament with a facile 3-1 victory over Raid in Buraidah in a match in which they were rarely troubled.
Ittihad is still setting the pace with 39 points but chasers Al-Ahli of Jeddah and Al-Nasr of Riyadh too logged victories to keep up the pressure. Raid remain on the eleventh rung.
Ahli too secured full points when they overcame Taie at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium here 2-0. Ahli stay in fourth place, one behind Nasr, on goal difference. The two teams are level-pegging at 32 points. Taie, meanwhile, are in eighth place with 21 points.
Nasr stayed in the fray with a solitary goal victory over Al-Qadisiya in a keen encounter. Qadisiya, who were third before the start of the game, dropped too fifth place with 30 points following the loss.
In the fourth match of the day, Al-Shabab and Al-Riyadh played out a scoreless tie in a Riyadh derby. Shabab remain in sixth position with 26 points and Riyadh keep their ninth spot with 16 points.
