JEDDAH, 7 March 2003 — The Community Chess Club will conduct the Series 8 (Round Robin and Stepladder) Tournament at Al-Faf Hotel (along Sary Street after the big protractor and opposite road of Al-Raya Supermarket) today. The Community Chess Club is to open at 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. every Friday.
The tournament will start with a double round-robin of Semi-Active Chess (15-15 minutes) and will end in the Stepladder final. The position of the players in the final will depend on the number of points they will accumulate from the round robin.
The Stepladder final will be best of two games (30-30 minutes each) or equivalent to one hour per game. In the playoff it will be sudden death (15-15 minutes).
Meanwhile Vice-Consul Jose Jacob of Philippine Consulate won the 7th weekly Semi-Active chess one day camaraderie tournament at Al-Faf hotel followed by CPA Gerry Calixto of HILTI.
