JEDDAH, 11 March 2003 — Seventy-five percent of the families of 337 brain-dead patients in the Kingdom refused to allow organ transplants last year, Okaz newspaper reported. In 2002, the Saudi Transplant Center carried out 57 kidney transplants successfully, the daily added. The center said it gained the consent of 41 families for organ transplants in cooperation with the GCC program for organ transplantation.
