JEDDAH, 14 March 2003 — The Series 8 of Round Robin to Stepladder Final Chess Tournament organized by Community Chess Club got off to a fine start at Al Faf hotel (along Sary Street after the big protractor roundabout and opposite road of Al Raya Supermarket).

In a battle that reflected a hard-fought atmosphere 18 games were played and two contests adjourned. Vice Consul Jose Jacob of Philippine Consulate and Oscar Calicdan of BTC shared the lead each with 4 points.

Saudi Ahmed Alomary of Presidency Civil Aviation and Russel Sayat of Arabian Food Supply both in second (3 points) and third (2.5 points) spot respectively. CPA Gerry Calixto Hilti and Ahmed Khatooa of Arifco both with 2 points.

Anselmo Seidel of Al Obiri Rent-a-Car at 0.05 point. Fahad Al Hilal of Hilal Est., Froilan Miro Al-Murj Co., Irshad Hussain of Trans Desert and Khalid Waleed of Mega Star at cipher position.

Regenerated Oscar Calicdan of BTC with a perfect score displayed his tenacity against Ahmed Khatooa and a sanguine game against Irshad Hussain.
