JEDDAH, 14 March 2003 — The 17th week at the Tuesday Night Bowling League here at the Jeddah Bowling Center produced staggering performances.
Leo Pangilinan stole fired 11 strikes for a towering 295 and broke the old record registered by Ruben Medina of Top Gun team in the high series with handicap (738). The new mark is now 743.
Pangilinan was the undisputed bowler of the week after submitting a total of 743 including his 258 at the start and 178 on the penultimate that were fortified by a 4-pin handicap per game.
With the staggering performances of Pangilinan and the games of Jerriel Cacao (647), Vic Santos (614), Leo Laygo (613) and Lavern Laderas (594), LVNJ Ball swept a total of 3211 for a new record in the team high series with handicap.
Although Al Alamiah Insektos tried to improve their previous mark, from 3129 to 3194, LVNJ deprived the latter of a clean sweep of four records in the team category.
Three team records remained in the hands of Al Alamiah Insektos, the high game scratch (1162), high game with handicap (1194) and high series scratch (3033) LVNJ Ball claimed the team of the week award in Division I by virtue of the number of pins submitted in the table in spite of having an even score at 33 points with Al Alamiah.
LVNJ swiped 3211 pins including handicap while Al Alamiah booked 3194.
Top Gun fired 2993 and received 23 points. Otra Cosa delivered 2906 equivalent to 22 points. PICPA-PRO had journalized 2898 entries and was credited with 20 points. Thunderball and Comfort Fabric Softener registered 16 points each. Cab Fare flagged down 13 points.
Although Speed Sports Club scored 918 for 5 points at the start, the team took the week’s honors in Division II at 32 points.
The team took nine maximum points on the penultimate and final sets, and was awarded of nine bonus points for submitting the highest 3-game series (2969).
In the results of other teams, Al Zamil Heavy Industries produced 27 points after processing 2853 pins. Zuhair Fayez Partnership collected 24 points when the team rolled off 2800.
SPIC was awarded 21 points for hitting 2819 while Tuesday Spoilers finalized their games to received 21.5. SkyFreight Forwarders delivered 17 points along with Al Saddiq team.
The International squad pocketed 11 points while the Seiko-PNB team had 9.5. The 18 powerhouse teams were divided into two divisions based on the results of their 16-game preliminary round. Accordingly, all points previously earned were discarded. Each team will start on equal footing except that the Top 5 teams in each Division received bonus points of 50, 40, 30, 20 and 10 at the start of the second round.
In Division I are Al Alamiah Insektos, Top Gun, Comfort Fabric Softener, Otra Cosa, LVNJ Ball, Cab Fare, Picpa-Pro, Thunderball and Filler.
