DURBAN, South Africa, 17 March 2003 — Javagal Srinath said there would be no complacency in the Indian team when they clash with rank outsiders Kenya in the World Cup semifinal at Kinsgmead here on Thursday.
“The Kenyans are a good side,” the veteran paceman told AFP yesterday.
“It is a do-or-die situation for us and Kenya caused us a hiccup when we played them in Cape Town.” India won the March 7 Super Six encounter by six wickets but were wobbling until an unbroken stand between captain Saurav Ganguly (107 not out) and Yuvraj Singh (58 not out) saw them home. Kenya also gave a gutsy account of themselves against Australia — who face Sri Lanka in tomorrow’s semifinal at Port Elizabeth.
