JEDDAH, 21 March 2003 — The Sri Lankan International School yesterday observed its annual English Day, the highlight of which was the release of the school’s first prospectus by Samar Fatany, a leading radio journalist who was the chief guest.
The school aims to ensure a “very high” degree of proficiency in English by enabling students to get involved in activity-based learning.
The school’s objectives also include fostering analytical and critical thinking, enhancing leadership qualities, and promoting self-discipline, physical fitness and a sense of social responsibility and national unity.
The program included recitation of poems, speeches and oratory by children from Reception to Grade 9. In all, 280 prizes were distributed to winners of various competitions.
Fatany, in her address, congratulated the winners and commended the school’s academic and co-curricular activities.
