RIYADH, 21 March 2003 — Unload your anxieties and lessen the worries of your loved ones at home by calling them, free of charge.
With this as a purpose, the Philippine National Bank (PNB) is launching the Tele-Ugnayan, a two-minute free call for Filipino workers in Riyadh who do not have the means to call their loved ones in the Philippines.
Osman Navarro, PNB country manager in the Kingdom, and Ambassador Bahnarim Guinomla will officially open the “free call” project tomorrow.
OFWs who with to avail themselves of the project may visit the embassy from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. A similar project got underway in Kuwait on March 15.
Navarro said that PNB also provides the same kind of assistance to Filipinos in the Philippines who have relatives in the kingdom.
“Just a few hours following the initial strikes in Iraq yesterday, a mother from the Southern Philippines, called us through our facilities in Cagayan de Oro City, asking us to find out the whereabouts of her son in Jeddah. Fortunately, we were able to locate him, and they talked,” Navarro said.
