RIYADH, 22 March 2003 — A committee consisting of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the secretary-general of the manpower council and the general statistics department will form to study the unemployment problem in the Kingdom. The committee will try to come up with as accurate a figure as possible. Official figures from the statistics department show an unemployment rate of 8.15 percent, with unofficial estimates putting it at 13 percent. Abdulwaheed Al-Homayed, chairman of the manpower council, said that the committee would correct the inaccurate and exaggerated numbers in circulation.
